The easy way to change headlight bulbs on an 2006-2011 Buick Lucerne

There are a few posts online talking about how to change the headlights on a Buick Lucerne, ranging from removing the front bumper skin to removing the air filter air box. I tried the later and it worked ok but I just found an even easier way to get the job done. I simply jacked up the front of the car using the jack that comes with the car and did one side at a time and just reached up from the bottom and was able to reach both the high and low bulbs and remove them and replace the new ones with very little problem. It was a little easier doing it this time after having done it once before the harder way but this way proved to be the simplest way yet vs other ways I have seen online. Just be sure to use caution when working under the front bumper when you are using the jack to lift the car.

Personal Jet pack

The idea here is a personal jet pack that you strap to your back and the controls strap to your arms so if you want to go up you simply raise your arms if you want to turn you raise one and lower the other mimicking how an airplanes wings move. It may have a bubble around it that filled with warm air to help in the lift and to protect the operator. The jet discharge is below the operators feet as to not burn them. It is a very simple system that allows a operator to learn how to use it in minutes of instruction and hands of trial.

Mechanical rotating drum for making carmel corn

The idea here is to have a drum of different designs that is designed to continuously rotate the popcorn or other item inside with a flavoring that is added to evenly distribute it over the item. For example but not limited to: carmel corn where you make a carmel sauce that then is added to the drum along with the popcorn to be coated and then placed in a warm oven to bake until it is done and evenly coated, to make cheese corn where you add a wet or dry cheese sauce to the popcorn and need to mix it to get an even coating on the popcorn, oyster crackers that need to be coated with a mix to make a snack, or any other food that needs lots of mixing to get an even coating. The unit may be constructed in a way that is is able to withstand up to a certain amount of heat so that it can be placed directly into an oven or other heat source. The unit may be constructed in a way that allows the heat of the oven to drive the motor that then turns the drum. The drum may designed in a way that maximizes the items being inserted for example but not limited to: a design like a cement mixer that has paddles to help better mix the contents, a flat drum inside that make cleaning easier for stickier mixtures and ones that do not require as much mixing, or other designs. The drum may be designed so that they are interchangeable depending on intended use. The drum may designed so that if reversed the contents come out like a cement truck dumps it’s contents. The unit may be designed so that it has a built in rechargeable battery(s) that can handle the heat and power the unit while in an oven or similar. The unit may have a design that has a low voltage power cord that can withstand the heat of the oven and powers the unit while in the oven and the cord is simply routed out of the oven and plugged in to a power source and or a power transformer.

This may be a consumer product or commercial. In the case of making carmel corn you may use the unit to continue to rotate the contents after being taken out of the oven until it has cooled to prevent the carmel corn from sticking together and to not have to lay it out on wax paper.

Home or office keyless lock system with battery

The idea here is a stand alone system that can be retrofitted into an existing building or added when the building is constructed. The system may be wired or wireless. The system may offer several different systems to unlock or lock doors such as but not limited to: keypad, FOB, wireless via near field communications chips built into products such as but not limited to cell phones (iPhone or other), watches, or other devices, use the mac address of a device to know when you are nearing a door and unlock it, use other sensors in vehicles or other places to know when you are nearing a door, sense your connection to a Wi-Fi network and you location within the network to unlock or open doors that you are approaching. The system may have it’s own battery or other power storage system to still operate when the external power is not available. The system may offer an app for a mobile device or computing device that allows an authorized user to open a door for a guest without giving them any passwords. They system may allow a user to program a guests device into the system allowing them access to the building when the user chooses so that their own device(s) allow them access only at certain times or days or any other specified time. The system may unlock or open various door such as but not limited to: garage overhead doors, entry doors, interior doors, safes, or any other opening that needs limited access to.

FaceTime Video Mail

The idea here is that if you are using Apple FaceTime or similar software to do a video call and the person you are calling does not answer there currently is not an option to leave them a video message and then have them get notified of it how ever they choose and to watch the message when they choose to. Some examples of how you could receive the message would be but is not limited to: a email with a video clip attached if it is small enough, a email letting you know you have a message but you have to log into FaceTime to watch it from the server when ever you are connected to Wi-Fi (or cellular data when supported), for it to be stored on your mobile me account until you watch it, etc..

This idea was thought of by Christine Wytaske (my best friend) who has decided it is easier for me to post an idea for her than for her to post on her own page!

Carbon Fiber closet shelving

The idea here is to make closet shelving that is made from carbon fiber so that is it stronger than traditional materials and requires less bracing. This may also include the use of carbon fiber to make closet shelving that also allows hanging cloths to be hung from it. One version of this new shelving may include the use of a solid surface for the shelving instead of the wire mesh shelves currently used which do not work very well for smaller items.

The ability in WordPress or BuddyPress to edit the tool bar to add additional features

The idea here is to have the ability to edit the WordPress or BuddyPress tool bar when you are in your dashboard and entering in a new posting, to add additional features like to justify your posting so that it adjusts to any size window that it is being displayed on, as well as any other standard features found in other word processor software. I personally prefer my text to be justified so that both the right and left side of my paragraphs are in a straight line. I think it looks a lot cleaner and at the same time needs to automatically adjust to the width of what ever window the text is being displayed in.

Jawbone to add some custom ringer and notification options

The idea here is to add different notification options for the Jawbone products. For example but not limited to the ability to choose the sound and length of sound that is heard in the Jawbone when you receive a phone call, new email, text message or other notification. Also the ability to record custom voice prompts for people in your address book like the ability to record a persons name and have that announced to you via the Jawbone rather than the Jawbone just simple saying the phone number of the incoming call.

Custom ring tones for different functions on the iPhone and others

The idea here is that under settings and sounds you can select a custom ringer or text tone and the rest of the notifications are just off or on. In stead of just on or off for the rest like but not limited to voicemail, new mail etc change it so that you can choose any of the sounds or none just like the ringtone or text tone. This would allow a user to change each function to a separate sound if they choose. Again a very simple posting but one that just makes sense. I feel that the phone OS should offer the most amount of customization as possible so that each user can configure they device as they choose.

Small and large hot water pot for induction elements

The idea here is to make different size tea pots or pots for heating water on an induction element or cooktop so that you do not have to use the microwave or other means. The base of the smaller pot must be at least four inches in diameter to have enough surface area to work with the inductive element. It is much quicker and more efficient to heat water on an inductive element than in a microwave.

New system to capture heat from air condition and create power

The idea here is to use the heat (energy) that is being moved from inside a building envelope to the outside currently and use it for other uses such as heat water and then any excess that is in the system use it to generate electricity which can then be stored for later use. The excess heat can also be converted into other forms of energy that can be stored for later use as well. The current system of just moving the heat outside and dissipating it into the air is not very efficient compared to the overall picture. The idea here is to also tie in other postings I have done and to use the heat being moved from inside other appliances like refrigerators, freezers, ice machines and others into the system to reuse the excess energy and use it in other parts of the system.

Bed Sheet straps to keep the fitted sheet taut

The idea here is that if your fitted sheet bunch up like mine do (mostly because they are flannel) you need a way to keep tension on the sides of the sheets to keep them tight. The general idea here is small straps that have a flat base and slip between the mattress and the foundation that have straps attached to them with clamps that grip the sheets from the side edges and keep constant pressure on them to keep them from bunching up when you sleep on the sheets. It may require multiple devices per side to do the job. The design may include a full recyclable design that allows it to be recycled when a user is done with them or they are no longer needed. The design also needs to be such that they do not damage the sheet when they clamp on and hold the sheet. There may also be a design that works with manufactures pre attached hooks or system to snap on the straps directly to the mattress and not require a separate piece to go below the mattress to hold the strap. There would be a standard design that all manufactures would use so that any aftermarket straps would work on any bed. There may also be a retrofit kit to attach pieces on the bed that are of the same standard design and allow for a user to retrofit their existing mattress and utilize the simpler strap.

Heat Pump that has an integrated hot water storage tank

The idea here is to have a single unit, possible for use in apartments or other places where space is limited, that is a heat pump and connects with either a air source or geo source unit to produce hot or cold water for heating or cooling as well as hot water for domestic use. The unit may be a stand alone unit for a single apartment and connected to a single outside air source or ground source unit to operate. It may also tie into a system that is more centrally located and makes use of the heat it is moving much better. For example but not limited to: a unit that is in air conditioning mode creating cold water for air conditioning is moving that heat it is removing from the environment it is located in to a central system where that heat can be used to increase the efficiency of the system for producing hot water for other uses such as heating in another unit or domestic hot water to name a few. It can also be used to potentially generate electricity with excess heat that is produced when in primarily cooling mode and instead of just transferring the heat to the outside air and dissipating it instead use that heat to produce electricity or other useful things with that energy.

Some of the current limitations of the current systems is that in an apartment that one unit is heating to 82 degrees and another that is air conditioning to 70 degrees, one unit is using an electric coil that is only 100% efficient to produce heat and the other is removing heat and moving it outside via refrigerant and just dissipating it into the air. At the same time both units are using electricity to keep the water heater hot and that again is only 100% efficient. Some heat pumps are currently approaching 500% efficient and it makes much more sense to increase the overall efficiency of the entire system to lower energy consumption which is better for the environment while at the same time saving money in the long run.

Another variation of the system may be to use just a small fan box in the apartment for creating the hot or cold air and then use a centralized hot water system and circulate that hot water throughout the building and save the space in the apartment for other uses. This system may be a high velocity system and be quieter and more efficient. This system may also lower the overall building heating, cooling and hot water production costs. It may also reduce the total amount of equipment required for a building and the cost to maintain individual systems as well as the overall noise of the systems inside and out.

Right angle Apple dock connector with tripod connector

The idea here is to build on the other postings I have sone related to this idea but to add an option to have a male end that connects to the device with connectors like some 3rd party cables that have a release(s) that have to be pressed to disconnect the device as well as a female end at a 90 degree angle so that when the adaptor is used in conjunction with a tripod it can still be connected to power or to another device via USB. The adaptor may also have the standard 1/4″ threaded female threads inside the base of it to connect to any existing tripods as well as the new smaller standard to connect to any new tripods or other holds that are developed specifically for the new devices with cameras for doing video calls.

Netflix to make Blu-ray default when you have Blue-ray on your account

The idea here is that when you have your account set up for Blu-ray that the system will default to choosing the Blu-ray format in your queue. Currently when you select a movie and it is only showing available in DVD because it is a ways out from being released on disc, it shows the format available as DVD. Then when it becomes available in Blu-ray the name DVD changes into a drop down box with DVD as the default and Blu-ray as the other option. My suggestion is that when the Blu-ray choice becomes available that the system defaults to selecting Blu-ray for the account if the account has the Blu-ray option selected on it. I currently have to watch my entire queue for the drop down boxes that have DVD in them and change them to Blu-ray. Also I am not sure if it was an isolated system glitch or what but I just went into my queue and most of the movies I had previously set to Blu-ray had defaulted back to DVD. If this happened to you please call Netflix Customer Service at 1-866-716-0417 and let them know it also happened to you so that they can make sure that this does not happen again. At the same time give them your suggestion for this posting as I will do as well so that they integrate this free idea into their service. The more times they get this as a suggestion the sooner they will hear the voice of the customer. That is until they start watching this site more more wonderful ideas.

FaceTime video conferencing

The idea here to to take Apple FaceTime to the next level and add the ability to do Video Conferencing. One example may be the ability for someone to be the host a call and to have their video feed go out to every participant of the call and the ability for the video feed from each person who joins in to be available to the host and let people at the hosts discretion the ability to ask questions and possible have their video feed send out to the rest of participants. There may also be a feature that allows a participant to choose a button that puts them in a queue for asking a question. There may also be a email that the host can send out with a link to the call. It may also include the option for the host to send out a document with the information that will be covered on the call. It may also include the ability to do a split screen and have the presenter on one half and the documents or other visuals that host wishes to share with the participants.

K-Pax II “On A Beam Of Light” to be made into a movie

The idea here is to make a sequel of the fist K-Pax movie based on the Gene Brewer book series. Gene has the screen play for “On A Beam Of Light” done and ready to go and is just looking for someone to take it on as their next pet project. The first movie was incredible and I can not wait to see the 2nd one. Also the rest of the book series should be made into movies as well!
